Dar es Salaam. In a bold move to mobilise women across Tanzania, Sauti ya Mwanamke Sandukuni has launched a nationwide campaign titled “Woman’s Voice in the Ballot”, aimed at encouraging women to recognise the power of their vote and actively participate in shaping the country’s future.
Speaking at the launch, on Friday, July 11, 2025, campaign coordinator, Ms Frida Mmanga, issued a rallying call under the theme, “Let Every Woman Step Forward and Vote.”
“This campaign carries a clear and urgent message. We want to awaken the woman who has lost hope—who sees others moving forward while feeling left behind. Our message is simple but powerful: take action. Don’t be a bystander,” she said.
The initiative stresses that voting is not merely a right, but a civic duty, with organisers saying, a woman’s vote is her voice—her vision for the future.
“No one else should decide for her—only she can. Real change begins when she takes that brave step to cast her vote,” said Ms Mmanga.
The campaign targets women in all regions, both urban and rural, and remains strictly nonpartisan.
“We are not here representing any political party. This is a campaign for all women, everywhere. We will go wherever they are,” she added.
The message is clear: when a woman votes, she does so not only for herself, but also for her daughters, sisters, and generations to come.
“A decision made today can transform her life tomorrow,” she added.
The campaign calls on women to assess political platforms and policies critically—especially those that directly affect their lives, livelihoods, and families.
It encourages women to move from the margins to the mainstream by becoming active participants in the democratic process.
“A woman’s vote—your vote—is a voice for change,” Ms Mmanga concluded, adding: “Stand up. Take action. Go and vote. Be a participant, not merely an observer.”
