Janet Ayatta wows audience in Nakuru with solo dramatised verse

Janet Ayatta of Kericho Primary School thrilled the audience with a solo dramatised verse during the Kenya National Drama and Film Festival workshop at Afraha Secondary School in Nakuru on Wednesday.
The workshop, which started on 22 November, concludes today.
The verse is about the placement of Junior Secondary School learners after Grade 9.
The verse encourages fair placement and selection of schools.
Guests included Equity Bank Managing Director Moses Nyabanda, Equity Communications Director Alex Muhia, National Chairperson of the event Prof CJ Odhiambo and Executive Secretary Mr James Indimuli.
The script was written and directed by Muriithi Burton, a veteran of the Kenya National Drama Festival. During the closing ceremony, Mr Nyabanda announced that Equity Bank will continue to partner with the Kenya National Drama and Film Festival during the 2025 festival to be held in Nakuru County. He said the bank will spend Sh25 million to support the events for primary schools, junior secondary schools, teacher training colleges and Tvets up to university level.
"Drama has provided a platform for teachers to showcase their creativity in promoting thematic concerns that highlight social, economic and political issues in our society," said Mr Nyabanda.
Prof Odhiambo, underscored the importance of drama in society.
Mr Indumuli commended the teachers for participating in the workshop whose theme was ‘leveraging technology to learners’ potential in the creative arts in the context of the Competency-Based Curriculum
The 2025 Kenya National Drama and Film Festival has new categories including TikTok and Podcast.
