Many business entities prescribe a dress code for their employees. Some have designed uniforms with employees’ names or badges for identification. In some organisations, however, employees are free to wear casual wear. Here’s what to consider when choosing what to wear to the office.

Dress modestly
Avoid clothes that accentuate your and attract attention. Tight-fitting clothing and thin or transparent garments shouldn't be worn to work. Clothes that expose your bodily details or the shape of your undergarments can have you mistaken for a shameless and immoral person.

To hide, don’t reveal
Wearing a low-cut blouse may not portray a good image. A modest blouse that covers your bosom well will do. A knee-length dress suit or pantsuit can give you a professional look.

Don't move with trends
Traditionally, a corporate executive cut the image of a well-groomed person in a dark suit and tie with a briefcase in hand. This is no longer the case. Modern fashion trends have adopted unisex clothing even at workplaces. It is not unusual for some men in high corporate positions to spot dreadlocks, ear studs or nose rings, or weird tattoos. Unisex clothing can lead some to conclude that the company or organisation you work for supports deviant sexual ideals. Simplicity by wearing what is neat and practical, is better. It is also advisable to avoid extravagance and ornamentation that draws unnecessary attention to yourself.

Go for a professional look
If you interact with clients all the time, you need not dress in expensive attire. You can be well-groomed and simple. High heels that make you struggle to walk should be avoided. Careers that entail much movement call for low heels. Also, avoid open-toed shoes if your nails are unkempt.

Social butterfly or office worker?
Pantyhose and fishnet hose are seemingly gaining currency in workplaces. Wearing this beneath a tight-fitting miniskirt will draw attention and you may be taken for a reveler rather than a serious professional. Whatever your casual work wear is, always project a good image.
