President William Ruto has nominated new ambassadors, including former Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha to UN Habitat.

The Head of State has picked her as Permanent Representative - Permanent Mission of Kenya to the UN Habitat in Nairobi.

Other nominees are Peter Tum (Kinshasa), James Muhati (Consul-General, Guangzhou) and Abdi Dubat (Consul-General, Arusha).

Alfed K’Ombudo, who has been serving as Trade PS, has been nominated as Deputy Head of Mission in Brussels, Belgium.

Geoffrey Kaituko, Principal Secretary for Shipping and Maritime Affairs, has also been nominated to serve as the country’s Head of Mission to Rome, Italy.

The names of the nominees have since been forwarded to the National Assembly for approvals before they can be appointed.

“These changes are driven by the need to harness the opportunities within emerging sectors of the economy, as well as to address challenges affecting Kenya’s social fabric," said Head of Public Service Felix Koskei.

"Collectively, the changes seek to further accelerate the implementation of the administration’s seminal social-economic blue-print, the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA)."
