Madaraka Day visit and nonchalant hosts

The leadership of Homa Bay was the talk of the town this week after top national government officials visited to inspect progress of preparations for Madaraka Day. Despite the officials from the Interior and Sports ministries as well as State House posting pictures and videos about the visit, the hosts appeared nonchalant about promoting the high-profile tour that officials considered successful. While some in government circles have speculated about a political motive in downgrading the visit, others have said it was simply an oversight.

Plot to boycott events of county boss

A county boss in Western Kenya is the talk of town among those working for him. The governor is said never to bother about the welfare of his handlers, including the communication team. In one recent function, the man is said to have started singing nursery rhymes and cracking dry jokes to them to buy time during lunchtime. The team is plotting to teach him a lesson by boycotting his events and never responding to his calls. The boss, who is rarely in his county, normally boasts that the welfare of the communication officials is none of his business since they earn their salaries.

Milk and honey vs praise songs

Is the leader of a political party unable to convene his outfit’s meetings over divisions? An insider claims that efforts to hold critical meetings have failed as leading officials do not see eye to eye. The party boss is now the talk of his juniors for reportedly failing to offer leadership, leaving them to operate in the dark. A secret push to have all the officials speak in one voice has been futile, over allegations that some were enjoying “milk and honey in Caanan” while they are only required to conduct praise songs. It could be a matter of time and the simmering tension will explode.

‘Absentee’ governor sets tongues wagging

A governor has set tongues wagging over the numerous foreign trips. The man is said to be spending more days abroad than at home. Since January, the man has continuously stayed away at times paralysing county activities where even his executives cannot meet, worsened by the fact that he has not delegated some responsibilities to his deputy. A fortnight ago, the man showed up in the county for just six days before departing again. Bloggers and political detractors are having a field day scolding the governor over his modus-operandi.

‘Irritant’ demands more from his boss

A political figure at the helm of one of a key state agency is not happy after he got wind that the leader of a party is getting more than he does in monthly favours from a governor. Efforts by the man to have the governor increase his loot on account that he’s in a better place to help him if things go south ahead of 2027, were laughed off by the county boss, who told the “irritant” to count himself lucky for the favours he’s getting. But the man is not just about to give up, something that has made the governor mad and is now considering ending the thing altogether.

Double dealer meets her match

A woman whose terms of employment in the government came to an end recently, feels used and dumped after a big shot in the agency, with whom she had romantic rendezvous, got the better of her. The woman, who is the wife of an employee at the agency, was reportedly double dealing two top figures at the institution and the issue of having her contract renewed never really occurred to her. Trouble started when she sensed her contract would not be renewed. She tried to blackmail the honcho but the man tricked her by organising a trip to a Rift Valley joint and ensured her phone disappeared with all the messages deleted.
