Kenya Police and Ulinzi cross swords today as league action resumes

Kenya Police coach Etienne Ndayiragije reacts on the touchline against AFC Leopards during FKF premier league match played on March 4, 2025, at Kenyatta Stadium, in Machakos County.
Kenya Police will be out to go four points clear at the top of Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKF-PL) standings, while AFC Leopards will be out to end a five-match winless this weekend.
League matches resume at various venues today since taking a one-week break to allow teams to compete in round of 16 matches of Mozzartbet Cup. There are two fixtures on the cards today as the league enters the 27th round.
Today, Kenya Police will play Ulinzi Stars at the refurbished Ulinzi Sports Complex, while struggling Posta Rangers plays host to AFC Leopards at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos County.
Kenya Police lead the league standings on 49 points, with eight matches left to the end of the season. Tusker FC and Gor following on 48 and 46 points respectively. Police and Tusker have played 26 matches while Gor have a game in hand.
Kenya Police head to today’s fixture having dropped points in a barren draw against Nairobi City Stars in their last league game, while Ulinzi Stars have not won in the past five fixtures. One would have to go back to December 15 to the last time coach Dunstan Nyaudo’s charges won a league match, a 2-1 victory over Murang’a Seal .
This season, four time league champions Ulinzi Stars have been poor this season and have collected a paltry 28 points and lie 13th in the league standings after 26 games. The past two meetings between Ulinzi Stars and Kenya Police have ended in a barren draw.
Kenya Police coach Etienne Ndayiragije will bank on youngster Mohamed Bajaber who has netted nine goals to lift his team against Ulinzi.
In the five meetings between Ulinzi and Police since 2023, either side have won once while the other three games have ended in draws. Dropping points for Police and a win for Gor and Tusker in their weekend matches would put their title charge in a difficult situation.
Leopards have had poor form which has seen them drop to seventh position with 37 points after 25 games. Posta Rangers are 15th on 25 points in 26 matches.
The last time Leopards won a league match was on beating Mara Sugar 2-1 on February 15. Ingwe have had a goal scoring headache and have only scored two goals in the last five matches.
Leopards coach Fred Ambani has lamented over the team playing its matches at Kenyatta Stadium saying it has worked against them as the pitch is in a sorry state.
“Kenyatta Stadium should not host league matches because the pitch has turned to be our opponent. In its state, players cannot even showcase what we do in training,” said Ambani.
