What you need to know:

  • Meanwhile, Kayole Starlets and Soccer Assassins earned promotion from the National Women’s Super League (NWSL) last weekend.
  • The third-placed team in the NWSL will face the FKF-WPL’s third-from-bottom team in a playoff to determine who plays in the top flight next season.

Defending champions Kenya Police Bullets moved closer to retaining their Football Kenya Federation Women Premier League (FKF-WPL) title after edging Bungoma Queens 1-0 on Wednesday at Bungoma Polytechnic Grounds in Bungoma County.

The crucial win extended Bullets' lead at the top of the table to 42 points, with just two matches remaining in the 2024/25 season.

Eunice Mwangi’s 30th-minute goal proved decisive, giving Bullets a vital three points as they march toward back-to-back championships.

Elsewhere, Ulinzi Starlets secured a hard-fought 1-0 win over Kibera Soccer Women at Ulinzi Sports Complex in Nairobi, thanks to Fasilah Adhiambo’s 47th-minute strike.

The victory lifted Ulinzi Starlets to second place with 39 points from 20 matches, while Kibera Soccer Women slipped to third on 38 points after leading the league for much of the season.

In Kisumu, four-time champions Vihiga Queens defeated Kisumu Allstarlets 4-2 to stay in fourth place with 37 points.
Swaumu Masungo opened the scoring for Vihiga in the eighth minute, with further goals from Noel Amutata (22'), Providence (68'), and Christine Adhiambo (90'). Kisumu’s goals came from Pauline Machimbo and Monica Etot.

Meanwhile, after three seasons in the top flight, Bunyore Starlets were mathematically relegated after a 3-2 loss to Zetech Sparks at Mumboha Grounds in Luanda, Vihiga County.

Bunyore have nine points from 20 matches, and even winning their final two games won't save them as they trail Mombasa Olympic—also battling relegation—by five points.

Mombasa Olympic still have a slim chance of survival if they win their remaining two matches and Kisumu Allstarlets (currently ninth) fail to maximize points. Should Kisumu win both games, Olympic will be forced into a relegation playoff.

Wadadia Women were the first team relegated this season after pulling out midway through the campaign due to financial difficulties.
