Vihiga, Bungoma Queens reach FKF Women’s Cup semis

Four-time Football Kenya Women’s Premier League (FKF-KWPL) champions Vihiga Queens and Bungoma Queens on Sunday booked their spots in the semi-finals in the FKF Women’s Cup on at Afraha Stadium, Nakuru County.

Vihiga edged National Women’s Super League side Eldoret Falcons 4-1 on penalties after a goalless draw in regulation time.

At the same venue, Bungoma Queens made light work of fellow FKF-WPL outfit Trinity Starlets, securing a 3-0 victory. Forward Catherine Khaemba netted a brace in the 8th and 50th minutes, with Ruth Chebungei sealing the win in the 62nd minute.

Vihiga and Bungoma will now meet in the semi-finals later this month.

In Nairobi, newly crowned FKF-WPL champions Kenya Police Bullets and Kibera Soccer also advanced to the last four after wins on Saturday at Dandora Stadium.

Bullets dominated Zetech Sparks 3-0. Emily Morang’a opened the scoring in the 8th minute, followed by midfielder Lucy Kwekwe 10 minutes later. Linda Kihara capped the win with a late second-half goal.

Kibera Soccer pulled off a stunning upset, knocking out former champions Ulinzi Starlets 3-2 on penalties after a 0-0 draw. Ulinzi, under coach Collins Oduor, had won the title three times in a row (2021, 2023, 2024) under the late Joseph Wambua, who also led them to FKF Women’s Super Cup titles in 2021 and 2023.
