Genesis Sports wins Kiambu County Sprints and Relays on first attempt

Genesis Sports Limited was crowned the winners of Kiambu County Sprints and Relays on their first attempt on Sunday.
Formed last year, Genesis scooped 64 medals (32 gold, 22 silver, and 10 bronze) in the championship held on March 22-23 at Regis Runda Academy in Kiambu.
Orca Swim Club came second with 28 gold, 25 silver, and 15 bronze, while Aqua Shark Fin wrapped up the podium places with 19 gold, 12 silver, and 21 bronze.
A record 31 teams drawn from Malindi, Meru, Nakuru, Kajiado, Nyeri, Nairobi, Mombasa, and Kiambu counties participated in the Sprints and Relays Swimming Championship organised by the Kiambu County Aquatics Association (KCAA).

On the list of teams that participated are Acacia Park School, Aga Khan Academy Nairobi, Crawford International School, Woodcreek School, The Harpoons, Moi Nyeri Complex, Melvin Jones Academy, Loreto Convent Valley Road, Next Gen Multi-Sports Academy, Jawabu School, Gliding Dolphins, Super Marlins Swim Club, Potterhouse School, Thika Marines, Nawiri Swim Club, Seal Swim Club, Beapro Swim Club, and Water Warriors Swim Club, among others.
In the girls' 100 metres, Individual Medley for swimmers aged seven years and under, Wanjiru Samara of Genesis Sports claimed first place with a time of two minutes and 4.56 seconds.
Jed Kahindo of Mombasa Aquatics Club who has been to national events seven times, emerged victorious in the boys’ 10-11 years 100m Individual Medley with a time of 1:32.25.
Kahindo was thrilled with the gala and the turnout, especially in his age group, and promised to work even harder in future events. He clocked 5:50.00 in the 400m Freestyle during the Kenya Nationals Short Course Swimming Championship held at Bandari Maritime in Mombasa last year.
Chris Kibe from Potterhouse School Runda excelled in the boys' 7 years and under backstroke, winning with a time of 39.03 seconds.

Nadia Nuru of Aqua Shark Fin emerged first in the girls' 8-9 years 25m breaststroke, clocking 26.19 seconds.
“I train a lot,” said Nadia adding that swimming was my passion. “I have worked hard to develop this skill and I'm really happy with my performance," Nadia explained.
Coach Patricia Wanjiru from Jawabu School thanked Kiambu Aquatics for hosting such a wonderful event. She noted that it encouraged many parents to allow their children to pursue swimming after witnessing the progress from previous galas.
Genesis Sports topped the men’s category with 48 medals (21 gold, 17 silver, and 10 bronze) followed by Orca (18 gold, 15 silver, and 10 bronze), while Crawford settled for third place (12 gold, 8 silver, and 12 bronze).
In the women’s category, Potterhouse retained their title after collecting 28 medals (12 gold, 6 silver, and 10 bronze) followed by Aqua Shark Fin (12 gold, 5 silver, and 10 bronze) and Genesis Sports (10 gold and 5 silver), respectively.
Young swimmers used the event to prepare for the upcoming Kenya Aquatics Junior National Swimming Championship which will take place on May 3-4 at Aga Khan Academy in Kisumu.
