What you need to know:

  • Gor Mahia announced their coach's departure on Monday evening via their social media platforms.
  • Mihic said he has agreed to exit on mutual consent and will stay in Kenya as he considers his option.

Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia have announced the departure of head coach Sinisa Mihic by mutual agreement.

The club made the announcement on Monday evening through their social media platforms, as they thanked the Croatian tactician for his time at the helm. The club expressed gratitude to Mihic and wished him well in his future endeavours.

Mihic, who took charge of Gor Mahia on February 3, 2025, oversaw a mixed run of form that has left the club’s management opting for a change in leadership.

While the specific reasons behind the parting of ways were not disclosed, sources close to the club suggest it stems from strategic differences and concerns over the club's recent performance.

In the interim, the club has confirmed that the two assistant coaches Zedekiah Otieno and Michael Nam will take charge of the first team as the club begins its search for a permanent replacement.

This transitional period will be crucial for Gor Mahia, who remain in contention for the league title and other domestic honours.

The departure marks yet another chapter in Gor Mahia's coaching history as they aim to maintain their legacy as one of East Africa's most decorated football clubs.

Mihic confirmed the news saying he has agreed to exit on mutual consent and will stay in Kenya as he considers his option.

"We have reached a mutual consent with the management but I must say I was not impressed with what has been going on in the pitch," said the 47 years old tactician.

Mihic is the second coach to leave Gor Mahia this season after Brazilian Leonardo Neiva left was sacked on November 13, 2024 following a string of poor results.

Gor are third on the log with 54 points from 31 matches. They will face AFC Leopards, Ulinzi Stars and leaders Kenya Police in their last three games of the season as they fight to defend their title.
